Gorgan walks on destructing road
Gorgan, a city with 7000 years history, is located in North of Iran. Mild and humid climate, green nature, dense woodlands and warm people are the important characteristics of this city. This was just an introduction to know Gorgan more.
Unfortunately all things are not so beautiful. There are some old neighborhoods in Gorgan which are going to be destroyed by some guys who are unfamiliar with history of this city. Most of them do not belong to this city, I mean they are immigrants from other cities and in fact they don’t know what is valuable for people of this city.
Some years ago they established a project called” Tarh e Aftab – The sun Project”.In this project, they were supposed to destroy timeworn structures and houses, and then rebuild modern buildings. So they bought some of the old houses and began to destroy them. After some while the project stopped and the destroyed buildings have exhibited an ugly view to that part of city. Even this is not the entire story, during the destruction operation, some buildings and houses which had historical value and belonged somehow to culture and identity of this city, destroyed and converted to a great hill of ruins.
In the newest activity of these guys, they want to destroy an old house which is in rank of national buildings of Iran (Number 41.)Fortunately in Gorgan, still there are some lovers of this city who are ready to protect against this unlawful job. Even some month ago they held a protest parade in front of “the cultural patrimony organization” and showed their voice and their request. But it seems that trustees and managers of this project do not hear voice of people.
I do not know what happens in other countries in similar conditions but I want to request unselfishly and honestly to stop destroying this house. Because this house and other ones are not just a normal structures, our culture and identity is linked to them so cutting this link will cause to forgetting our relics.
I ask all people in all over the world to somehow help us, protect our culture and nostalgia against destruction.
